The Patrick County Chamber of Commerce will host a “Historic
Tax Credits 101” Virtual Workshop
Speakers include topic experts in architectural history,
development, finance, and accounting, as well as Virginia Department of
Historic Resources staff. The event will include an overview by Michael Pulice,
staff with the Department of Historic Resources, about what tax credits are and
how the application process works. Architectural Historian Alison Blanton of Hill
Studio will show where tax credits have been used on projects. Developer Dave
McCormack of Waukeshaw will discuss how the numbers work in a project.
Financial information will be provided by Michael Locher, a certified public
accountant with Harris, Harvey, Neal & Co., LLP, and by Dawn DeHart,

The ability to make use of tax credits is a benefit of being a contributing building in an Historic District. Historic properties located in the District may be eligible to receive tax credits if the owner chooses to rehabilitate the property. This workshop is open to all property owners, real estate agents, economic and community development leaders to learn more. The cost of this virtual workshop is free for residents of Patrick County, and non-residents is $20.00.
