Dec. 19-Statement of Governor Bob McDonnell on the NAS Report on Uranium Mining in Virginia. Governor Bob McDonnell issued the following statement after the NAS report on uranium mining in Virginia was issued earlier today.

“I have long maintained that Virginia should be prudent in considering the potential lifting of the uranium mining moratorium in the Commonwealth. All energy development should be pursued if it will create jobs, spur our economy, reduce Virginia's and the nation's dependence upon foreign energy supplies, and be done in a safe and responsible manner. “Today, our experts at the relevant health, environmental and regulatory agencies and my staff will begin a detailed and thorough review of the NAS report. I hope to have their thoughts and analysis shortly after the first of the year. It would be premature to make any additional comments until that thorough internal analysis of the report has taken place.�
