Griffith Lumber of Woolwine, VA Conducts Ribbon Cutting-New Sawmill

Griffith Lumber Company of Woolwine, VA held a ribbon cutting celebration on Tuesday, October 11, 2011, conducted by the Patrick County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, Tom Bishop

Griffith Lumber of Woolwine, VA received a grant for $70,000 from the Virginia Tobacco Indemnification Fund on May 26, 2010 to rebuild the sawmill that was destroyed by fire.
On hand for this celebration was Tom Rose, County Administrator, Wilma Pendleton, Tourism and Economic Development,Smith River Board of Supervisor Crystal Harris and Karl Weiss, Blue Ridge District Board of Supervisors
Cutting the ribbon was Bruce, Bill and Bud Griffith, owners.
Also, on had for the Ribbon Cutting were numerous employees and local friends and family. Richard Rogers of WHEO (The Heart of Patrick County) News covered the event for 1270AM radio.
Griffith Lumber is to be contratulated for rebuilding the lumber plant after a massive fire that destroyed it last year. They have saved approximately 50 jobs in Patrick County and added even more.
The sawmill was destroyed by fire on April 23, 2009. This business has been in existence since 1933.
