A ribbon cutting and cookout will be held Sept. 30, in downtown Stuart, VA, celebrating the opening of the Mayo River Trail, which is on the rail bed of the Danville and Western Railroad, otherwise known as the"Dick and Willie".

Please join us as we celebrate the completion of Phase I of the Mayo River Rail Trail. When complete the three-mile multi-use trail will connect down town Commerce Street (next to what was known as “The Depot� in Stuart to Walmart on the Rt. 58 corridor towards Patrick Springs. The trail will be built along portions of the rail bed of the Danville and Western Railroad (the “Dick and Willie�) which ran through the county from 1884 to 1942.
