The Patrick County Board of Supervisors voted 4-0, to postpone work on the 2nd phase of the Mayo River Trail on Monday, September 13, 2011. Board member Crystal Harris was absent.

This action was done at the recommendation of County Administrator, Tom Rose due to potential changes in the federal transportation enhancement funds, which is administered by the Virginia Department of Transportation. Three seats are up for election on the Board of Supervisors at the November 8 election. Rose says, "we don't know what the political landscape is going to be." The first phase of the trail is now complete.
