Aug. 23-An earthquake measured to be 5.4 on the Richter scale hit the Eastern United States, including Patrick County, VA. The epicenter was reported to be in Louisa County, VA.
The Patrick County Government office building was temporily evacuated so officials could evaluate the situation.
The Patrick County Schools did not report any evacuations.
Most Patrick County residents felt the effects of the earthquake and experienced things falling off shelves.
