Martinsville Mustangs Wins On Patrick County Night-Martinsville

Martinsville Mustangs baseball team beat Petersburg on Patrick County night at Hooker Field in Martinsville on Thursday, July 21st 6-4 in a nine inning game. A sizeable Patrick County crowd took advantage of the FREE ticket night.

The "Four Way Test" Rotary singing group sang the opening National Anthem. Clyde Crissman, Patrick County Recreation Director, brought his grand daughter Gracie Williams out to throw out the first pitch. Derrick Hopkins, Patrick County native, hit a stand-up double driving in a run. This gave the Patrick County crowd added excitement and reason to cheer more. Richard Rogers, WHEO morning talk show (Stuart, VA) host and news reporter was on hand to record interviews for the morning radio news. Tom Bishop, Executive Director of the Patrick County Chamber of Commerce was on hand to take photos. The Virginia Cardinals were on hand and were celebrating their recent Little League World Series Championship. The weather started off near game time at about 98 degrees, but cooled considerably as the game progressed into the darkness. The Patrick County Chamber of Commerce and the Patrick County Recreation Department were the main focal points for residents picking up free admission tickets.
