Attendance was up 20 percent on Thursday and Friday compared with last year and camping was up 20 percent as well, according to Stanley Fain, one of the organizers of the event that is sponsored by the Patrick County Jaycees. He said attendance was even higher on Saturday, when temperatures were expected to be in the upper 80s. It’s been a “very good year,� Fain said. “We dodged the bullet from the storms,� he said, adding that Saturday afternoon’s weather was beautiful for the event. “We have new people coming all the time,� he said of the bands and the visitors. On Friday night, there were visitors from Florida who attended the festival for the first time, Fain said.
