U. S. Congressman Robert Hurt (Republican-5th District) spoke at the Dutch Inn, Martinsville, Va on June 7, 2011 at the Post-Legislative Luncheon spearheaded by the Martinsville-Henry County Chamber of Commerce

He told of his grave concern for our nation's $14 Trillon debt and it's unfunded mandate of $62 trillion. The U. S. Debt now exceeds the Gross National Product. He stated the fact we need to drill for oil off the coast of Virginia and in Alaska to make America less dependent upon foreign oil. He has found it frustrating to work at the Federal level and not be able to get America on a good financial basis like the State of Virginia is. Robert Hurt is from Chatham, VA
