Henry G. Ayers has received the 2011 District Club Vocational Award for Rotary Clubs in this region.

This photo is of him and his wife. Here is a summary of his many accomplishments: Henry Ayers served as a manager for United Elastic Corporation in Stuart, VA for over twenty years. Among his many duties, he developed training manuals for both operators and managers and conducted hands-on training for employees. When United Elastic Corporation merged with J.P. Stevens, Henry moved into a divisional leadership role overseeing several manufacturing plants. Individuals who worked with Henry comment about his attention to detail and his compassion for helping others. Since 1983, Henry has held the position of Executive Director of the PARC Workshop, Inc. in Stuart, VA. This sheltered workshop provides opportunities for mentally and physically handicapped adults in Patrick County. Henry works hard to integrate the clients into the community through outings, educational offerings, and recreational activities. A member of the board of directors had this to say, “Henry is the ultimate example of a life lived in service to his community. As a member of the PARC Workshop board of directors, I am inspired and awed by the dedication Henry devotes to serving the needs of handicapped adults in Patrick County.� An active Rotarian since 1965, he has served as president and secretary and holds the distinction of being named a Paul Harris Fellow. But his community service goes even beyond his work with the Stuart Rotary Club. Henry also serves as manager of the Patrick County Agricultural Fair Association, Inc., an office he has embraced for over 40 years. Managing the fair is a job that requires a lot of coordination to provide agricultural, artistic, educational, and commercial exhibits; musical entertainment; a variety of food vendors; carnival rides; a rodeo and tractor pull; and beauty pageants for all ages. The county fair attracts over 15,000 individuals annually. The Stuart Rotary Club celebrates Henry’s many years of vocational service to United Elastic Corporation, the PARC Workshop, the Stuart Rotary Club, the Patrick County Agricultural Fair, and to his community as a whole. We applaud and congratulate him for a life-time of extraordinary accomplishments!
