Tom Rose Accepts County Administrator Role-Patrick County-VA

Jan. 12-Tom Rose accepted the job as County Administrator at the regular monthly meeting of the Patrick County Board of Supervisors. The Board deliberated for approximately 2 hours before announcing this decision in public forum.

Photo by Tom Bishop Yet to be finalized is the contract with Tom Rose. He will begin to be paid for this role on January 13, 2011. The Board went into Executive Session at 9:03PM and did not come back for public session until 10:58p. m. Tom has served as the Interim County Administrator since for County Administrator Jay Scudder resigned. Those speaking favorably about Tom's performance were: Karl Weiss, Blue Ridge District Supervisor, who said Tom was the best candidate because: 1. He has already done it. 2. He is a local person, which the public has been saying that's what they wanted. 3. His roots are here for him and his family New elected Chairman of the Board of Supervisors, Roger Hayden, Dan River District, said the following: 1. Over the last 6 months as Interim Administrator he has learned to respect Tom 2. He has not faltered and stayed on course for all the project schedules. 3. Tom will represent the people in this County. Ron Knight from the Mayo River District said the following: 1. Tom has filled in this role several times 2. He is the best candidate. 3. He is already trained. We can keep moving on current projects. Dr. Lock Boyce, Peter's Creek District and Crystal Harris, Smith River District, declined to make comments about the selection.
