Jan. 6-Republican Jeff Evans (Fieldale) will make another run for State Senate, oposing Sen. Roscoe Reynolds in the 20th Senatorial District of Virginia. He made his announcement on January 6 in parking lot of Stanley Furniture.

Source: Martinsville Bulletin Jeff Evans (R) announced Thursday that he will be running for the 20th Virginia Senate District race this November. The announcement was made in a parking lot across the street from Stanley Furniture Company. The 20th Senate District currently includes all of Henry, Patrick, Floyd and Carroll Counties, the cities of Martinsville and Galax and parts of Wythe and Grayson counties before redistricting occurs later this year. Evans resides in Fieldale, Virginia. An Army veteran, Evans served in Germany and with the Army Reserves 424th Transportation Unit. He was a Virginia State Police Trooper from 1978 until his retirement in 2000. Since moving to Henry County, Evans has worked as associate minister at Victory Baptist Church. He also is director of the National Armed Forces Fellowship, a ministry of Victory International Ministry. Jeff Evans currently serves as the Henry County Republican Chairman. Evans will be challenging incumbent Roscoe Reynolds for the second time. Reynolds has not officially declared, but says he intends to seek reelection.
