Pottery I: Pinch Building

Eight sessions - begins February 18th, 2020. A pinch pot is a simple form of hand-made pottery produced from ancient times to the present. The pinching method is to crate pottery that can be ornamental or functional, and has been widely employed across cultures and times. Pinch pots are the ideal project for newcomers to hand-building with clay; perfecting this technique is a fantastic way to start developing your clay-craft skills. This class will teach you to develop a feel for the clay, to develop a sensitivity to the material and its working properties. You will learn basic making techniques with lots of tips for success and development. Students will create functional and decorative ceramic pieces, including bowls, vases and "piggy" banks. Class is taught by instructor Jessica Shelor, Tuesdays and Thursdays, beginning February 18th, 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. $85.00 per person. Registration and payment due by February 15th.
