The Stokes County Arts Council is pleased to announce the opening of an exhibit of all Original Art by Artist, Frank Duncan, in the Apple Gallery. A reception is scheduled for Saturday, August 29, 2026, from 4:30-6:00pm at the Stokes County Arts Council 500 Main Street Danbury, NC. Duncan was born in Marion, NC on March 28, 1951, but was raised in Hillsborough, NC. He graduated from Orange High School in 1969 and from The Technical Institute of Alamance in 1971 with an associate degree in Technical Illustration. He worked for 26 years as a draftsman or designer and received 3 patents during this time. He moved with his wife, Jeannie and two sons, Mark and Adam, to Stokes County in January 1984 and have called Stokes County home ever since. They remodeled a 1940s farmhouse, and Duncan created a studio in a tobacco pack house located on the property. In 1997, he began pursuing his passion as an artist full time. Since then, he has created numerous paintings that have been printed as limited-edition prints. He works in mostly oil and watercolor. He has created many commission works for folks all over the state. Duncan enjoys recreating history, be it county, city or personal history in a painting. He graduated from a picture framing class at Forsyth Technical College and now does custom framing for the public at his studio. This exhibit will be on display August 17-September 30, 2026, in the Apple Gallery. The Stokes County Arts Council is open to the public Monday through Friday, 9:00am-6:00pm, Saturday, 10:00a.m.-6:00p.m. and Sunday, 12:00pm-6:00pm.
