Upper Beach Parking Area: Date: April 22, 2026. 8:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. On the night of April 21–22, 2026, the Lyrid meteor shower will peak, offering a prime stargazing opportunity to see roughly 10–20 meteors per hour. Guests are welcome to join a ranger in the Upper Beach Parking Area to view the night sky. We recommend chairs or blankets for stargazing during this event because of the wide-open space. Please park in the Shelter 3 parking area and walk up the path to the Upper Beach Parking area to prevent light interference. Rangers will be on-site with red flashlights to borrow. Telescopes will be provided, but feel free to bring your own. This event may be cancelled if the forecast indicates overcast skies or rain.
