The Patrick County Chamber of Commerce would like to thank everyone who participated in the Shreds, Meds and Treads events on Saturday April 22. The day started with thunderstorms and document shredding and medication take back. We shredded close to 6,000 pounds of documents. This event was co-sponsored by Carter Bank and Trust. Prescription medication take back was handled by the Patrick County Sheriff's department. With collecting a full garbage back of medications. The tire take back at the Transfer station in the afternoon was a success with collecting 23,540 pounds of tires and filling an entire 74 foot trailer. Unfortunately, we did have to stop accepting tires as we did not have another available trailer to place them in. Thank you to the employees that volunteered their time and the trustees that assisted with stacking the tires. To date we have over fifteen groups who have collected trash from our roadways and entered data into our online form. There is still time to get out there and collect trash and enter for a chance to win $500. More information can be found on the Chamber's website, www.patrickchamber.com. These events would not be made possible without the corporation of partners and community support. Thank you to Stuart Rotary, the Patrick County Green Team and EMI Recycling for sponsoring all the events for Pick Up Patrick in April.
