National College to Become American National University

Campuses of National College to Become American National University Virginia, West Virginia locations make transition as part of institutional vision. A long-established institution of higher learning in the local area will have a new name this fall. In accordance with the strategic vision for American National University set forth in Evolution 2086 (http://www.an.edu/about/evolution-2086/), all Virginia and West Virginia campuses of National College will become campuses of American National University during the fall term of 2013.

“The continued development of academic programs and professional training offerings in our Virginia and West Virginia Campuses reflect the same evolutionary process behind the transition of our flagship Roanoke Valley campus to university status,” says American National University President Frank Longaker. “As National College continues to evolve, we look forward to more of our campuses making this transition in coming months.” Programs such as cybersecurity, network administration, and software development—introduced widely at the associate degree level with clear pathways to programs at the baccalaureate level through American National University Online and at the master’s and doctoral levels through a strategic partnership with the University of Fairfax – are characteristic of the “progressive learning” format that is being applied across all National College and American National University academic program areas. National College campuses in Charlottesville , Danville , Harrisonburg , Lynchburg , and Martinsville , Virginia ; and Parkersburg and Princeton , West Virginia , are affected by the transition. Founded in 1886, American National University is dedicated to the training and education of men and women for a full life and a successful career in a number of fields in business, information technology, and health care. The University offers more than 45 academic programs including a master of business administration, seven bachelor’s degrees, and numerous associate degree and diploma programs. Meeting the workforce needs of 31 communities through campus locations in Virginia , West Virginia , Tennessee , Kentucky , Ohio , and Indiana , the University serves more than 7,000 students annually.
